Pretty sure there’s a song about that. Johnny Mathis? That’s the voice in my head, singing those words. Must look it up. And I probably won’t, because by the time I’ve finished whatever I’m doing here, I will have forgotten all about it. Now that’s OLD for you.
The big news is: I’ve finally admitted (to myself) that I am ‘semi-retired’. That just means I’ve stopped actively looking for work, but I’ll still take whatever comes my way. My agent, Factor Management, have been looking after me since they approached me in 2019 to ask if I’d like them to represent me. They send me auditions to self-tape for, about 3 or 4 a month. Mostly for Brands wanting a quirky old lady to help promote their whatever. If I’m lucky, I’ll pick up one every three months or so. There are quite a few quirky old actresses still on the go, so they have a good choice.
So far this year, I’ve had two nice little independent short films/features. The first one was shot in Burnley, and is now doing the rounds of the short film festivals, the other was a promotional video for a professional sports person, which was shot in Eastbourne, Sussex, and just outside of Munich, Germany. Oh yes, I’m the very model of a modern majorly jet-setting granny. I’ll let you know when they are released to the general public. Which reminds me, I do have permission to add my scene from the Burnley one to my showreel. I should write a list…
For now, I’m about to dive into the MSS of my first ever novel, an adaptation of a stage production we devised (and I scripted) many years ago. I sent it off to a professional editor, who loves it, and who has given me many, MANY corrections of punctuation to approve, as well as a few plot tweaks to make it even better.
I’M SO EXCITED…
